The
Frequently Asked Questions
(help) are the same for

with the exception of
the foil art care instructions
below. These
must be adhered to in order for you to fully enjoy your foil
art prints. They CAN bend if not handled very carefully.

Foil Art Care - Proper Matting, Framing and Preservation Instructions
Find a clean, flat surface. Preferably
thoroughly wash and dry your hands before attempting to take out the foil
art print. It's your responsibility to keep your foil prints unharmed.
Foil art bends easily. Very carefully remove your foil art print from
the shipping box, envelope or tube. If you happen to bend it while removing
it, that usually won't be a problem since the edges will be covered by your
frame. The prints and posters will flatten out in a frame under acrylic or
glass.
Do not expose your foil art print to heat or direct sunlight.
Please do not leave it in the car. It will melt. (As
bizarre as this seems, this was reported to us by someone who left it in the
car trunk).
To preserve your foil art print, framing under glass is highly recommended. For foil posters, we
suggest that you bring your unpacked poster directly to a professional framer.
You may also frame it under acrylic as our customer did:
Notice that there are no
reflections or glare from the lighting of the map framed under acrylic.
You may want to try both types of coverings - glass and acrylic - to see
what works best for you in the area in which you will be placing your
treasured foil prints and posters. Yes, they are a treasure to be enjoyed
for many years, if properly taken care of.
When matting your print, it is advised that you use a water-based PVA or dextrin adhesive mixed with a minimum of water and applied cold.
Hot or solvent-based adhesives must NOT be used
under any circumstances. As long as an application
does not involve heat, you can frame your foil
prints any way you like, including under non-glare
acrylic glass.
All foil art is inspected by two people before it is
shipped. There are no returns, exchanges or refunds for foil art due to the
nature of the care that must be taken when removing it from the shipping
receptacle (tube, box, envelope) and framing it.
Please print these instructions and give them to the framer and watch
him or her read them in front of you. Highlight the instructions (unless you
want to print the entire page); press the CTRL (control button) and the
letter "P". Click in the "selection" radio button and print.
If the framer destroys your foil art, he or she will have to replace it for
you or you will have to buy another one. (This incident has happened only
once and the framer offered to, and did, pay for it.) It's much better to
bring the instructions with you and make sure you and the picture framer
understand them. If not, please email me. Thank you.
